Team / division overview
DWS Corporate Functions Technology operates across a hybrid landscape of DWS-managed applications, Deutsche Bank-provided technology services, cloud platforms, SaaS solutions and enterprise integration services.
This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape and implement the strategic future-state technology landscape for DWS Corporate Functions globally, working across cloud, on-premise, SaaS and enterprise platforms in a regulated asset management environment.
The Data Integration Lead will be responsible for defining and delivering the data integration architecture required to support this transformation. The role will provide technical leadership across cloud and hybrid technology ecosystems, ensuring that data can move securely, reliably and efficiently between strategic platforms, enterprise services and business-critical applications.
Your responsibilities –
As Corporate Functions Data Integration Lead, Vice President, you will:
- Define and evolve the enterprise data integration architecture and roadmap for DWS Corporate Functions across cloud-native, hybrid, SaaS and on-premise ecosystems.
- Lead architectural decisions for strategic integration scenarios, including GCP-to-GCP, GCP-to-on-premise, application-to-application, batch, real-time, event-driven, API-led and CDC-based data integration.
- Establish standards, frameworks, reusable patterns and best practices for data ingestion, transformation, enrichment, distribution and integration across strategic platforms.
- Drive modernisation from legacy ETL platforms towards cloud-native integration services, ensuring migration choices are pragmatic, controlled and aligned to DWS architecture, risk and operational resilience expectations.
- Provide technical governance and design assurance across major initiatives, challenging solution designs where needed and ensuring alignment with agreed architecture principles and engineering standards.
- Lead the design of near real-time and real-time data processing solutions, including streaming pipelines, low-latency feeds and event-driven services where these are the right architectural fit.
- Oversee the design of reliable, scalable and observable data feeds for market, reference, position, transaction, investment and operational data.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership for strategic initiatives, including design reviews, proof-of-concept work, complex issue resolution and guidance on implementation quality.
- Partner with engineering teams, platform owners, architects and business stakeholders to ensure integration solutions are secure, resilient, scalable and operationally supportable.
- Mentor engineering teams and promote engineering excellence, including DevOps, CI/CD, automation, observability, documentation and platform modernisation practices.
- Own technology risk, controls, architecture review outcomes and operational stability for integration solutions within the role’s scope.
- Provide clear updates, recommendations and technical leadership to senior management on integration strategy, delivery progress, risks and key decisions.
We are looking for
- 10+ years' experience in data integration, ETL, enterprise data engineering or integration architecture, with evidence of operating at senior technical leadership level.
- Strong practical understanding of Google Cloud Platform services relevant to data engineering and integration, including GCS, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise integration and data movement platforms such as StreamSets, Informatica PowerCenter / IICS, uFlow or comparable workflow orchestration technologies.
- Proven experience architecting and delivering streaming data pipelines using technologies such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Spark Streaming or comparable event streaming platforms.
- Strong understanding of event-driven architecture, message-based processing, API-led integration, microservices-based data exchange, and CDC patterns.
- Experience designing enterprise integration frameworks, reusable components, data ingestion patterns, transformation services and distribution platforms.
- Experience designing high-volume enterprise data feeds and low-latency data processing solutions in complex hybrid-cloud environments.
- Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
- Strong engineering capability in at least one modern programming language, preferably Python, with the ability to review, guide and challenge implementation quality.
- Good understanding of data modelling, metadata management, data quality, data lineage and master data management concepts.
- Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native design and operational observability practices.
- Experience working in regulated financial services, preferably within Banking, Asset Management or Wealth Management.
- Understanding of Asset Management business processes and data domains would be advantageous.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant cloud, data engineering or integration architecture certifications would be advantageous.
