Job Description
We are looking for an experienced IT Contracts & Software Asset Management Officer to join an international technology governance and asset management team based in Lisbon.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring software license compliance, optimizing software assets, supporting contract management activities, and maintaining accurate software usage and procurement records across a global organization. You will collaborate with international teams and stakeholders across multiple locations, contributing to governance, reporting, and software cost optimization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Software Asset Management (SAM) governance frameworks, policies, and best practices.
- Support the implementation and enforcement of SAM processes and controls.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of procedures, guidelines, and awareness documentation.
- Collect and validate software usage data through inventories and audit activities.
- Gather and maintain evidence of software purchases, including contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and maintenance agreements.
- Act as a key liaison between IT, Procurement, vendors, and software resellers regarding software acquisitions and licensing matters.
- Monitor software usage against purchased entitlements to ensure compliance and identify optimization opportunities.
- Coordinate remediation actions such as license reallocation, software removal, renewals, or additional purchases when required.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to:
- Software inventories
- License compliance status
- Usage versus entitlement tracking
- Maintenance renewals
- Action plans and remediation activities
- Licensing metrics, contract terms, and vendor-specific requirements
- Analyze software contracts and extract relevant licensing, compliance, and usage information.
- Prepare and maintain management reports, dashboards, and performance indicators related to SAM activities.
- Identify risks, compliance gaps, and optimization opportunities, escalating issues when necessary.
- Provide stakeholders with accurate information regarding software licensing, usage, procurement, and applicable governance rules.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in IT environments.
- Previous experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management, IT Governance, or IT Contract Management.
- Good understanding of software licensing models, compliance controls, and contract analysis.
- Experience working with procurement processes and software vendors.
- Knowledge of reporting and data analysis tools, particularly Power BI.
- Experience working in multicultural and international environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with remote and geographically distributed teams.
- ITIL certification is considered a plus.
