Job Description
Join an established collaborative family practice in Sydney, working alongside physicians, NPs, family practice nurses, social workers, and allied health to provide primary care to the community. Sydney Health Park offers supportive practice in a spacious and conveniently located clinic with opportunities for hospital work, ED, procedures, and teaching residents or medical learners.
Island Family Health Clinic and Sydney Primary Care Medical Clinic are both located in the Sydney Health Park. Sydney Health Park is a modern, multi-service medical complex that brings a variety of healthcare services together in one convenient location. The Health Park is located directly across from Cape Breton Regional Hospital and is connected to the hospital by a pedestrian walkway (pedway), providing convenient access to the hospital and a range of additional healthcare services. Both clinics provide primary care services within this collaborative healthcare environment and offer an opportunity to work in a professional, patient-focused setting in the heart of Sydney’s healthcare community.
Responsibilities
- provide comprehensive, full-scope primary health care to practice patients of all ages and stages of health and illness
- maintain timely and accurate patient records using a provincially approved electronic medical record (EMR)
- participate in quality improvement, practice evaluation, and other activities that support the delivery of safe, effective, patient-centered care
- attend regular physician and team meetings
- comply with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, policies, and professional standards of Nova Scotia Health
- partake in continuing medical education (CME) and professional development opportunities
- participate in teaching of medical learners
Expected Hours
- Full-time Equivalency or Part-time available
- 46/52 weeks per year for full-time, office-based providers
Remuneration
- Longitudinal Family Medicine (LFM) contract approximately$375,000 to $400,000 CAD
- Family Physicians in Nova Scotia are compensated based on the LFM payment model or Fee for Service (FFS)

Qualifications
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- All applicants must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
