Co-Op - ICAP Market Operations
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. The NYISO takes pride in recruiting, developing and retaining highly talented individuals. Our co-op programs give young professionals the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of New York electricity markets, bulk electricity systems and how we plan for New York State’s energy future.
The NYISO is seeking a Co-Op student to join our ICAP Market Operations to perform analytical work supporting resource adequacy and capacity-market research. The student will analyze historical Installed Reserve Margin study cases to identify changes in seasonal and locational Expected Unserved Energy while considering the annual reliability criterion used for the New York Control Area.
The student will also analyze generator outage data, including outage characteristics and potential relationships with temperature, to evaluate assumptions related to generator-outage randomness and Equivalent Demand Forced Outage Rate calculations. The resulting analysis will support research concerning Installed Reserve Margin methodology and seasonal reliability risk.
