Intern - Market Design
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. Our summer internship programs give young professionals the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of New York electricity markets, bulk electricity systems and how we plan for New York State’s energy future.
The NYISO is seeking two Market Design Interns to support strategic initiatives focused on the evolution of New York's wholesale electricity markets. Interns will contribute to projects that evaluate how market design supports reliability, efficiency, price formation, and long-term investment signals across the electric system.
Working alongside market design professionals, interns will conduct research, perform quantitative analysis, develop analytical tools, and evaluate proposed market enhancements. Project assignments may focus on areas such as capacity market design, reliability analysis, resource accreditation, transmission security, scarcity pricing, operating reserve markets, price formation, and market modeling.
