We are looking for a Software Engineering PhD or MS student to join our student worker program at Snap Inc
What you’ll do:
We're offering students industry exposure and hands-on experience. We're offering 3-6 month contracts and are open to students who can commit on a part time or full time student. Your start date is flexible and can be arranged together with the hiring manager.
As a student worker you will work on the CoreOS team to help us develop cutting edge AR experiences for future Spectacles. CoreOS team’s mission is to develop OS level features for Spectacles such as graphics, display, power, storage solutions, interprocess communications and more.
Additionally, you will:
Tackle the unique software engineering challenges of Mixed Reality devices across the graphics and display systems of Spectacles.
Produce high-performance code that will have a direct impact on Snap products and technology
Collaborate closely with a mentor and fellow team members on a student worker project
Acquire and apply new software engineering skills
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong computer science fundamentals
Basic knowledge of Graphics and Display Pipelines
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and software debugging skills
Ability to collaborate with other engineers and across different teams
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a MS or PhD program in a technical field, such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
You must be legally permitted to work in Austria as a student
Proficiency in programming C/C++ for Linux-based platforms
Comfortable working with a Linux terminal (e.g., Bash)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with software tracing tools
Experience in Mixed Reality, Robotics, classical Computer Vision or Graphics/Rendering
Interest in working with embedded and resource constrained systems
Positive attitude and willing to learn and contribute in the area of augmented reality devices
Experience with Git, CMake, working on Linux, and embedded systems
